Very good for the beginner. But innovative? Uh-uh. You go on about other sites having artificial dialogs and content but this one sounds like it came out of any text book. Japanese for Busy People or Minna no Nihongo, anyone?

Steve Kaufmann

The Power of the Linguist is not authentic, but it is a continuous story in 26 episodes, and in that sense is somewhat innovative since it provides a continuous context.

It exists in five languages including English. I used it for Russian and had no trouble listening to the whole story 30 or 40 times.

Of course it is only a stepping stone towards the goal of dealing with authentic content as soon as possible. With LingQ I think it is possible to do that quite early. That is why we put more emphasis on natural conversations in JapaneseLingQ. If you cannot follow these, you will be more comfortable with The Power of the Linguist and other Beginner and Easy content at LingQ.
